Shoes, drawn by a painter.

HUHUA is the footwear house of Georgian artist Zaza Khukhua. Every pair is conceived as a work of art, considered in line, proportion and colour, and made predominantly by hand in Georgia.

The Founder

From the canvas to the foot.

Zaza Khukhua came to footwear through painting. His work on canvas trained the eye that now defines HUHUA: the tension of a line, the weight of a colour, the balance of a composition.

In 2022 he founded HUHUA as an extension of that practice. The questions stayed the same. Only the scale changed, from a frame on a wall to an object that moves with the woman who wears it.

Wearable Art

Each design begins as a drawing.

Silhouettes are approached as sculpture, colour as composition. A HUHUA shoe should hold its own on a plinth, and come fully alive in motion.

Inspiration

The colours of Georgian nature.

On Georgia’s Black Sea coast, there is a place of strong sunlight, deep water and green hills that run down to the shore. Its warmth and its colours are the source of HUHUA’s palette.

The HUHUA Woman

She dresses for herself.

Individual / Sophisticated / Drawn to art

She looks for the one remarkable detail over many safe ones.

For her, shoes are both the foundation of an outfit and the detail that transforms it.

Every HUHUA pair begins as a stroke of paint, and goes on to become part of someone’s story.
